Historically, Sugar River Wetlands is a wet prairie habitat, but has become a haven for invasives and trees. This is because wildfires, a critical component in maintaining a healthy prairie, has been actively removed by humans over the past few centuries. This workday will help to remove overgrown aspen colonies and restore the natural prairie that once thrived.
