466-acre Dane County Land Purchase to be named Falk Wells Sugar River Wildlife Area

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announced the large Dane County land purchase made in 2013 will be named the Falk Wells Sugar River Wildlife Area after the former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk and her former Chief of Staff Topf Wells.  Both Falk and Wells were champions of bringing natural areas in Dane County accessible to the public.

The 466 acre purchase includes 340 acres that will be dedicated to public use, 126 acres place under a conservation easement and 2.5 miles of Sugar River streambank.  The entire area is within the Upper Sugar River Watershed and flows through USRWA’s annual Paddle & Pig-Out paddling route.
